

Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups (GENESIS) is a national initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) designed to catalyze innovation and entrepreneurship across Tier-II and Tier-III cities of India. With a total budgetary outlay of ₹490 Crore over five years, the program envisions a strong, inclusive, and sustainable startup ecosystem that empowers emerging innovators beyond metropolitan hubs.
GENESIS aims to discover, nurture, and scale over 1,600 technology-driven startups working across cutting-edge domains. By fostering access to resources, mentorship, and market linkages, the initiative seeks to bridge regional innovation gaps and unlock the entrepreneurial potential of India’s next generation of problem-solvers.
Through this mission, MeitY aspires to build a pan-India innovation network, accelerating deep-tech development, job creation, and digital empowerment — propelling India closer to its vision of becoming a global hub for technology-led entrepreneurship.
IIT Ropar – Technology and Innovation Foundation is a Section – 8 company founded to support the initiatives of the established Technology Innovation Hub – AWaDH (Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub) at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar in the framework of National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM – ICPS) by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The TIF supports deep tech R&D-driven startups and research community members, in the domain of Agriculture and Water and provides incubation and acceleration support to technology and innovation-based ideas and products towards sustainable agriculture, and the environment, by leveraging IoT, AI, and ICPS.
