On 26 August 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, through its iHub – AWaDH initiative, inaugurated its 15th Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) at the Acropolis Institute of Technology and Research, Indore. Marking the first CPS lab in Madhya Pradesh, this facility represents a significant step in decentralizing advanced technological research and innovation across India.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Dr. Radhika Trikha (CEO, iHub-AWaDH) and Dr. Mukesh Kestwal (CIO, iHub-AWaDH). Distinguished partners from Acropolis, including Chairman BOG Er. Ashok Sojatia, Chairman AITR Er. Gaurav Sojatia, and Mr. Lalit Dubey, Head of HR, Linamar Corporation, graced the occasion, reflecting the collaborative effort behind the initiative.
As part of this collaboration, iHub-AWaDH and Acropolis Institute formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly manage, operate, and develop the CPS Lab. This MoU establishes a framework for sharing resources, expertise, and mentorship, ensuring that both institutions work hand-in-hand to promote research, innovation, and skill-building opportunities for students and startups. It reinforces the commitment of both organizations to foster interdisciplinary learning and technology-driven entrepreneurship.
The lab is equipped with cutting-edge tools and infrastructure to support students, faculty, and researchers in domains such as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and CPS hardware development. Beyond academic research, the facility is designed to strengthen the startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Madhya Pradesh, fostering a pipeline of innovation-driven opportunities aligned with Industry 4.0 requirements.
This lab is expected to serve as a launchpad for future-focused CPS projects, providing a platform for research, innovation, and skill development. The milestone strengthens IIT Ropar’s commitment to expanding the NM-ICPS mission nationwide, contributing to the vision of a technologically empowered India.
