IIT Ropar – Technology and Innovation Foundation (for AWaDH) recently concluded its ambitious Online Internship Carnival (AIC) 2022. In collaboration with Innovation Mission Punjab, this initiative aimed to provide valuable hands-on experience to 500 students in the domain of Cyber-Physical Systems. Running from June 15 to July 31, 2022, and beyond, the program attracted exceptionally talented students from various engineering disciplines.
Innovative Projects
The AIC 2022 featured ten innovative projects designed to address real-world challenges:
- IoT-Enabled Drone Crop Sprayer
- Device for Accurate Measurement of NPK, Humidity, and Soil Temperature
- Smart Crop Sensor System for Efficient Fertilizer Application
- IoT-Enabled Crop Irrigation Systems
- Consumer-Centric Milk Quality Assessment Device
- Automatic Harvester for Apple Orchards
- Laser-Based Scarecrow (Crop Protection System)
- High-Efficacy Fully Automatic Indian Gooseberry Deseeding/Shredding Machine
- IoT-Enabled Hydroponic Growing System with Aerator/Temperature/Water Level Systems
- Dual Fuel (CNG/Hydrogen) Generation System from Biowaste
The Competition and Rewards
A total of 100 teams tackled these projects, competing to be among the top 10 winning teams. Each winning team was awarded Rs. 100,000, recognizing their exceptional contributions to innovation and technology.
Stipend and Fellowship
All qualified students received a monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 for the internship period. In addition to the stipend, the program offered up to Rs. 1 Crore Seed Grant for startups, providing substantial support for students looking to turn their ideas into viable businesses. Participants also benefitted from mentoring by industry experts and academia, further enriching their learning experience.
A Call to Action for SpINe Institutes
As part of the AWaDH network, SpINe institutes were invited to nominate up to four teams for the summer internship carnival. This collaborative effort aimed to circulate the opportunity widely, ensuring talented students could take full advantage of the program.
